You should also avoid any foods that are especially fibrous and hard to digest, such as celery.

Ferrets can usually eat food that is meant for other animals. Ferret treats canĀ  be hard, dry dog bones. Dry, crunchy treats are good for a ferret’s teeth and make their breath smell nice. It also helps in keeping their feces from having a strong odor. Cat treats can be used as well. Avoid giving the ferret chewy treats, as these are hard for your pet to digest.

Every time the ferret looks up when you say his name, give him a treat. This will help if you let your ferret roam around your house. If you give him a treat every time you call his name, he will always come running to you. Be consistent in training, as ferrets are much less willing to please than dogs are.

You do not have to worry about overfeeding your ferret. Most of the time, ferrets will stop eating when they are satisfied and keep eating every four hours or so. You can leave uneaten food in the cage as long as it does not spoil. Be sure to reward good behavior and interact with your ferret as much as possible so they will come to love you and your family. Your ferret will come to you when called and it will listen to your commands with the help of a few ferret appropriate snacks.
